2013 NFL Over/Under Win Totals: Cowboys Set At 8.5 Wins

NFL season win totals for the 2013 season are in and they have the Cowboys in a tight, three-way race for the NFC East crown.

Kickoff to the 2013 NFL season is still four months away, but that's not going to stop Vegas from posting NFL season win totals for the 2013 season.

Like last year, the Vegas bookmakers are not high on the Dallas Cowboys, and have the early over/under for the Cowboys set at 8.5, the exact same value as prior to the 2012 season. Those 8.5 wins wouldn't just have the Cowboys out of the playoffs, but would also have them finishing third in the division behind the Redskins and Giants (both 9 wins) and ahead of the Eagles (6.5). The Eagles of course were tipped to win the NFC East last year with a 10-win over/under, but they fell slightly short of that win total.

We still have OTAs, minicamps and training camp ahead of us. Not a single snap of organized football has been played yet, but everybody has already formed an opinion of the strengths and weaknesses of the 2013 team. Are you optimistic enough about the Cowboys' chances this year that you would take the over on those 8.5 wins? Or are you picking the under?

You can look up the projected win totals for all 32 teams here, or you can simply browse through the table below to find out how the individual odds combine into divisional standings for all 32 teams.

National Football Conference
NFC East Proj. Wins
Washington Redskins 9
New York Giants 9
Dallas Cowboys 8.5
Philadelphia Eagles 6.5
NFC North Proj. Wins
Green Bay Packers 12
Chicago Bears 8.5
Minnesota Vikings 7.5
Detroit Lions 7
NFC South Proj. Wins
Atlanta Falcons 10
New Orleans Saints 9.5
Carolina Panthers 6.5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6.5
NFC West Proj. Wins
San Francisco 49ers 11.5
Seattle Seahawks 11
St. Louis Rams 8
Arizona Cardinals 6
American Football Conference
AFC East Proj. Wins
New England Patriots 11.5
Miami Dolphins 7.5
New York Jets 7
Buffalo Bills 5
AFC North Proj. Wins
Pittsburgh Steelers 10
Baltimore Ravens 9.5
Cincinnati Bengals 9
Cleveland Browns 5
AFC South Proj. Wins
Houston Texans 11
Indianapolis Colts 8
Tennessee Titans 6.5
Jacksonville Jaguars 4.5
AFC West Proj. Wins
Denver Broncos 12
San Diego Chargers 7
Kansas City Chiefs 6.5
Oakland Raiders 5.5

The Packers and Broncos sit at the top of these odds with 12 wins each. The second tier of teams at around 10 wins is made up largely of last year's playoff participants. In fact, Vegas projects 10 of 12 playoff teams to repeat this year. In the NFC, the Saints replace the Vikings and in the AFC, the Steelers replace the Colts. That's it.

Given the fact that the playoff teams churn by about 50% every year, there are bound to be some teams coming up short this year, just like the Kelly Green Underachievers came up short last year. Will the Cowboys be one of the teams to grab a playoff spot vacated by one of last year's playoff teams?
